ALICE (TOMLINSON) HILES

Alice Hiles

Alice Hiles, 89, of Rushville, died at 9:06 p.m. Oct. 11, 2009, at Culbertson Long Term Care Facility in Rushville.

She was born June 17, 1920, in Woodstock Township, Schuyler County, a daughter of Albert Cecil and Essie Covey Tomlinson. She married Clark E. Hiles on June 20, 1937, in Lewis County, Mo. He preceded her in death on June 27, 1998.

She also was preceded in death by one daughter, Joan Chute; and one brother, Albert Tomlinson.

Surviving are one daughter, Susan (and Dale) Lamb of Beardstown; three brothers, Russell (and Lela) Tomlinson of Palmyra, Mo., Donald Tomlinson of San Diego, Calif., and Tommie (and Phyllis) Tomlinson of Hutto, Texas; two sisters, Mary (and Eldon) Fegley of Macomb and Lois Henninger of Rushville; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Rushville.

Services will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday at Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Steve Pichaske officiating. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Private committal services will be held Friday, Oct. 16, at Palm Cemetery west of Rushville.
