VeteranAllie Humphrey

Allie Humphrey, 80, of Beardstown, formerly of Peoria, died Monday, March 1, 1999, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

He was born June 7, 1918, in Schuyler County, a son of William E. and Lela M. Belville Humphrey. He married Marie Heller on July 17, 1963. She died March 7, 1994. One brother and two sisters also preceded him in death.

Surviving are one brother, Andy of Peoria; four sisters, June Barnett of Bluff City, Ethel Perpich of Elmwood, Mrs. Earl (Emma) Hamlin of Browning and Mrs. Gary (Margaret) Bopp of Astoria; several stepchildren; and several step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and step-great-great-grandchildren.

A World War II Army veteran, he was a member of Guthrie-Pierce Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1239. He worked for McDougal-Hartmann Co. in Mossville and was a dispatcher for the Cass County Sheriff’s Department. He was a bus driver for Beardstown School District until retiring in 1980.

He was a member of Browning United Methodist Church, where services were held Friday with Rev. Joe Tomich officiating. Burial was in Browning Cemetery. Sager Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
