CHARLES E. HEATON

Charles E. Heaton, 68, of Vermont, died Monday, June 3, 1996, at 3:50 p.m. at the McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

He was born on July 3, 1927, in Vermont Township, the son of Harry S. and Ella O. David Heaton. He married Pauline Applegate on April 21, 1948, in Blandinsville. She survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Lloyd (Brenda) Robinson of Monmouth, Mrs. Robert (LaRita) Maloney of Astoria, and Mrs. Steve (Pat) Yost of Havana; two sons, Ronald Heaton of Springfield and Eldon Heaton of Macomb; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Mrs. Ron (Rosemarie) Prickett of New London, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was a member of Illinois Rifle Association, National Rifle Association, Modern Woodmen. He worked at the Vermont Foundry for 20 years and was custodian at VIT School for five years. He was water superintendent for the Vermont Water Department, retiring in 1989. He was an Army veteran.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Kost Memorial Home in Vermont with Rev. Gary Sheets officiating. Burial will be in the Vermont Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening at Kost Memorial Home.

Memorials may be made to the Vermont Rescue Squad.
