Maggie Hammond Of Ipava Dies

Mrs. Maggie J. Hammond, 91, a resident of Modern Manner Nursing Home in Mt. Sterling, formerly of Ipava, died at 12:40 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, 1975, at the nursing home.

She was born Nov. 6, 1883, in Pleasant Township, a daughter of George and Jane Clanin Vaughn. She married John E. Hammond on Sept. 28, 1900, in Edinburg, Mo. He died Nov. 9, 1949.

Surviving are a son, Floyd Hammond of Clayton; two daughters, Mrs. Grace Hummel and Mrs. Doris Nelson Fithian, both of Lewistown; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Two sisters and three brothers died earlier.

Mrs. Hammond was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Ipava.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Ipava with Rev. John W. Pereboom officiating. Entombment was in Ipava Memorial Mausoleum.
