She was born May 3, 1919, in Ipava, a daughter of John and Maggie Vaughn Hammond. She married Ralph Nelson on Feb. 14, 1938, in Iowa. He died May 27, 1968.
She also was preceded in death by one brother, Floyd Hammond; and one sister, Grace Hummel.
Surviving are four sons, John (and Lena) Nelson of Rock Springs, Wyo., Lonnie (and Annette) Nelson of Terre Haute, Ind., Ron (and Caroline) Nelson of Lafayette, Ind., and Ralph (and Debbie) Nelson of Westmont; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She lived in Lewistown for most of her adult years. She was a homemaker and worked several years for the Soil Conservation Service.
She was a member of Lewistown Presbyterian Church.
Services were held Thursday with Rev. Danie deBeer officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown. Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown was in charge of arrangements.
