Thomas GossageThomas E. “Tom” Gossage, 63, of Vermont died at 11:37 p.m. Sept. 8, 2023, at McDonough District Hospital Emergency Room.

He was born Aug. 10, 1960, in Rushville, a son of William and Madge Vincent Gossage.

Surviving are three sons, Benjamin (and Weili) Gossage of Macomb, Joshua (and Amie) Gossage of Burlington, Iowa, and Matthew Gossage of Peoria; one sister, Loretta Surratt of Roseville; three brothers, William Gossage Jr. and Jimmy (and Ann) Gossage, both of Galesburg, and Jack Gossage of Vermont; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter; and two brothers, Joseph and Daniel Gossage.

He first worked as a farmhand in Littleton. He then went on to be an over-the-road truck driver. He later worked at DOT Foods in Mount Sterling. He also worked at Timewell Tile in Timewell. He was most recently self-employed as an expert retailer of antiques through Ebay. He also owned his own farm.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. A visitation will take place from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Ridgeville Cemetery in Browning.
