Madge Gossage

Madge Gossage, 75, of Galesburg died at 10:49 a.m. May 9, 2008, at her home.

She was born Dec. 14, 1932, in Sweden, Ky., a daughter of Will and Ora Vincent. She married William Gossage on June 7, 1950, in Bowling Green, Ky. He died Oct. 14, 1984.

She also was preceded in death by one son, Joseph Gossage; five brothers and six sisters.

Surviving are five sons, William Gossage Jr. and Jimmy (and Ann) Gossage, of Galesburg, Jack Gossage and Tom Gossage, both of Vermont and Daniel Gossage of Canton; one daughter, Loretta (and Larry) Surratt of Monmouth; one sister, Joe Ann Lynch of Tennessee; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She owned and operated Madge’s Beauty Shop in her home in Galesburg. She also was a certified nursing assistant. She owned rental properties in Galesburg and worked for the Galesburg District #205 School in the food service program.

She was a member of Four Squared Gospel Church; Moose Lodge #115; and board member of Older Americans of Knox County, all of Galesburg.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Bob Wakefield officiating. Burial will be in Ridgeville Cemetery in Browning.
