E. Truman Gale

Truman GaleE. Truman Gale, 97, of Vermont died at 7:35 a.m. Jan. 19, 2014, at The Elms in Macomb.

He was born March 26, 1916, in Browning, a son of Henry and Gertrude Stockwell Gale. He married Louise Batterton on Feb. 19, 1940, in Palmyra, Mo. She preceded him in death on July 4, 2013.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Mylo Gale.

Surviving are two daughters, Norma Weishaar of Browning and Donna (and David) Thome of Lewistown; one son, David (and Arlene) Gale of Ipava; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

He was a farmer. He also worked for Shields Electric in Vermont, Vermont Foundry, and last worked at Bower Bearing in Macomb, retiring in 1983.

He was a member of Vermont United Methodist Church where he played the organ and sang in the church choir. He also was a member of Vermont Fire Department.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Reverend Robert Green officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Astoria Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Vermont Rescue Squad.
