NANCY M. (JAKOBY) GRUBER

Nancy Gruber

Nancy M. Jakoby Gruber, 71, of Peoria, formerly of Astoria, died at 1:45 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, in Bartonville.

She was born Oct. 31, 1933, in Peoria, a daughter of Michael G. and Doretta J. Sutton Jakoby. She married Stanley Gruber on July 13, 1952, in Peoria. He survives.

Also surviving are four sons, James (and Janice), John (and Diane) and Mike (and Kim), all of Bartonville, and Stanley (and Carrie) of Dunlap; two daughters, Carol (and Dale) Smith and Cathy (and John) Hawksworth, both of Bartonville; one brother; Michael (and Ida) Jakoby of Pekin; one sister, Mary (and Jim) Trimpe of Havana; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Patricia Peplow; and one grandson.

She was a secretary at Hollis Grade School for 20 years, retiring in 1991. She also served as a trustee for Astoria Township Board.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Havana, where a funeral Mass was conducted Monday with Rev. Stephen Englebrecht officiating. Cremation was accorded. Hurley Funeral Home in Havana was in charge of arrangements.
