Gerald W. Groff Of Macomb Dies

Gerald W. Groff, 73, of Macomb, a former Ipava area resident, died at 12:35 a.m. Thursday, May 31, 1990, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

He was born June 22, 1916, in Ipava, a son of Earnest and Adelia Siler Groff. He married Ilene Berry on Aug. 20, 1936, in Keokuk, Iowa. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Jack H. Groff of Macomb; two daughters, Beverly Roberts of Bushnell and Diana K. Modlin of Adair; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two sisters, Mrs. Maude Lalicker of Macomb and Mrs. Jean Bishop of Lewistown.

He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, one brother and one sister.

He was a retired farmer and worked in maintenance at Citizens National Bank in Macomb before retiring. He was a member of the National Rifle Association.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon at Shawgo Memorial Home in Ipava with Rev. Gordon E. Jones officiating. Burial was in the Ipava Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Association.
