He was born April 28, 1938, in Woodstock Township, Schuyler County, a son of Clifford and Catherine Lucille VanOrder Friday. He married Ellen Lucille Clanin on March 8, 1964, in Schuyler County. She preceded him in death on June 16, 2001.
He also was preceded in death by two brothers, James Friday and Russell Friday; one sister, Mildred Ren; and two half-sisters, Dorothy Bowman and Dory Anderson.
Surviving are one son, Thomas James “Tom” Friday of Rushville; three brothers, Robert “Bob” Friday of Rushville, Wayne (and Jennifer) Friday of Springfield and Don (and Eve) Friday of Metamora; three sisters, Anna Robbins of Rushville, Ruby Hammack of Summum and Donna (and Douglas Sr.) Hammack of Pleasant View; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.
He worked as a laborer for Robinson’s Concrete Products in Frederick, the Arenzville Saw Mill and Sharkey’s in Beardstown.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Browning Cemetery with Pastor Greg Fish officiating. Burial to follow. Wood Funeral Home in Rushville is in charge of arrangements.
