Kenneth FloydKenneth L. Floyd, 86, of Rushville died March 24, 2015, at his home.

He was born Oct. 11, 1928, in Meredosia, a son of Newton Jesse and Julia Marie Leonard Floyd. He married Virginia C. Sokolis on May 21, 1945, in Palmyra, Mo. She preceded him in death on April 21, 2012.

Surviving are three sons, Jerald (and Ruth Ann) Floyd of Halfway, Mo., Larry “Lance” (and Carla) Floyd of Carthage and Kenneth Allen Floyd of Springfield; one daughter, Jeanette (and Kim “Mickey”) Plaster of Sherman; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Richard “Dick”, Leonard “Bud”, Granville “Jack” and Robert “Bobby” Floyd; and one sister, Della Louise “Babe” Reed.

He worked as a mechanic at Pillsbury Mills in Springfield for 47 years, retiring on April 26, 1991.

He was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Rushville. He also was a member of Local 24 Grain Millers Union, where he served as representative for 10 years. He received his diploma from the Industrial Training Institute for radio and television as a repair technician, he operated from his home.

Services were held Friday at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with Reverend John Sowers officiating. Graveside services were held Friday at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield.
