Everett W. France, 84, of Macomb, formerly of Ipava, died at 10:51 a.m. July 1, 2007, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

He was born July 14, 1922, in Kerton Township, Fulton County, a son of Guy E. and Daisy Richardson France. He married Genevieve Babcock on Aug. 25, 1946, in Ipava. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Susan (and Dale) Ertzinger of North Muskegon, Mich.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Frank; two sisters, LaVerne Belville Malott and Laura Fresh; and one brother, Neville.

He was in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II, serving with the amphibious forces, participating in five invasions in the Pacific Theater. He also served with the occupation forces in Nagasaki, Japan.

He worked for Illinois Power in Havana for 30 1/2 years in the operational department.

He was a member of VFW Post 5001 in Lewistown and ELCP International Brotherhood Workers.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday with Rev. Danie DeBeer officiating at Shawgo Memorial Home in Ipava. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the memorial home. Burial will be in Ipava Cemetery with military rites conducted by his VFW post.
