Jo EasleyBarbara J. “Jo” Easley, 81, of Ipava died at 9:04 a.m. Feb. 24, 2022, at her home.

She was born Nov. 22, 1940, in Marietta, a daughter of Lyle and Frances Gilmore Cramblet. She married Forrest Eugene “Gene” Easley on Aug. 2, 1958, in Vermont. He preceded her in death on April 19, 2018.

Also preceding her in death are two sisters, Shirley Hart and Beverly Plotts.

Surviving are three sons, Monte (and Penny) Easley and Kevin (and Marcy) Easley, both of Ipava, and Kelly (and Leslie) Easley of Timewell; two God-daughters, Amanda (and David) Grove of Macomb and Andrea Sears of Ipava; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

She started her day care in 1977 with Heidi Baderttogan. She ran this day care in Ipava for 45 years and cared for well over 200 children, including her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was a member of Ipava Berean Christian Church, where she and her husband Gene taught Sunday school for several years. They also helped with the local Cub Scouts.

Because of their involvement in the community, they were honored as Grand Marshalls at the 2011 Camp Ellis Days parade in Ipava.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service was held Sunday at her church. Burial was in the Ipava Cemetery. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Ipava Berean Christian Church or a future VIT Scholarship in memory of Gene and Jo Easley.
