Larry EppLarry W. Epp, PhD, 59, of Pasadena, Calif., died at 12:02 a.m. Aug. 10, 2021, at his residence.

He was born Feb. 8, 1962, in Lincoln, Neb., a son of Waldeen M. and Janet M. Krehbiel Epp.

Surviving are his mother of Rushville; one brother, Jeffrey (and Denise) Epp of Bedford, Texas; one sister, Becky (and David) Adams of Mason City; nine nieces and nephews; and 12 great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father; and one sister, Christie D. Eyler.

He graduated from Rushville High School in 1980 and later graduated from Bradley University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1984. He continued his education receiving his M.S. and PhD from the University of Illinois in 1990 in electrical engineering with a focus in radio frequency communications. He was an employee of Cal Tech University and worked for the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory after getting his PhD, and then worked in the Chicago area for a few years at Motorola. He returned to JPL, working there for over 25 years, and was the holder of multiple patents. While at JPL he worked on the Deep Space Network, which provided earth to space communication. He also worked on the antennas and other components of the Mars Rovers.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Rushville First Christian (Disciples of Christ) Church with Rev. Bill Rucker officiating. Burial will follow in Rushville City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Saturday at the Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville.
