Herbert Easley

Herbert EasleyHerbert Lloyd Easley, 91, of Macomb, formerly of Vermont and Industry, died at 7:50 a.m. May 15, 2020, at Wesley Village Healthcare Center in Macomb.

He was born Dec. 13, 1928, in Fulton County near Vermont, the son of Earl and Irene Danner Easley. He married Elizabeth Ann Cook on March 16, 1947, in Vermont. She passed away March 21, 2020.

He also was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Jean Easley; and one infant son.

Surviving are five children, Delores Beck of Macomb, Duane (and Gwen) Easley of Englewood Beach, Fla., Ellen Novack of Vermont, Carmen Axley of Macomb and Juli (and Ron) Fitzgerald of Knoxville; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He grew up in the Industry and Eldorado Township areas and made his home there until moving to Wesley Estates during his retirement years. He attended Vermont High School and was scouted as a baseball pitcher by Bradley University. He farmed in Eldorado and Industry townships.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of the donor’s choice.

ELIZABETH ANN (COOK) EASLEY

Elizabeth Easley

Elizabeth Ann Easley, 91, of Macomb, formerly of the Vermont and Eldorado Township areas, died at 11:15 p.m. March 21, 2020, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

She was born Oct. 15, 1928, in Beardstown, the daughter of Charles E. and Olive M. Cox Cook. She married Herbert L. Easley on March 16, 1947, in Vermont. He survives.

Also surviving are five children, Delores Beck of Macomb, Duane (and Gwen) Easley of Englewood Beach, Fla., Ellen Novak of Vermont, Carmen Axley (and fiancé Terry Quinn) of Macomb and Juli (and Ron) Fitzgerald of Knoxville; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald Cook and Raymond Cook; and one son in infancy.

Her family moved to Vermont and later to Lockport, where she spent most of her high school years. After graduation, she worked at the Sears Roebuck store in Macomb.

She and her husband farmed west of Vermont in Eldorado Township. They lived in the Industry area also, then back to Eldorado Township until they moved to Wesley Village in Macomb.

She was a member of Vermont Methodist Church.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Cards may be sent to the Elizabeth Easley family, 1960 Elizabeth Rd., Vermont, IL 61484.
