Donald EllisDonald Dean “Donnie” Ellis, 53, of Peoria, formerly of Rushville, died at 11:18 a.m. June 29, 2017, at OSF St. Frances Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born Oct. 6, 1963, in Rushville, a son of Dean Lee and Regina Caroline Henry Ellis.

Surviving are one son, J. D. Buss of Rushville; one daughter, Nikki (and Dale) Hickman of Quincy; one brother, Brian Ellis of Rushville; one sister, Judy Lynn (and Jerry) Crow of Rushville; and five grandchildren.

He graduated from Rushville High School and attended Western Illinois University in Macomb.

He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp and was a union laborer working out of Pekin Local #231.

He was a member of the Heart of Illinois Narcotics Anonymous in Peoria for seven years, where he chaired meetings and served as treasurer.

Funeral services were held Thursday, July 6, at First Southern Baptist Church of Rushville with Rev. Stephen Bounds officiating. Burial was in the Rushville City Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by a U.S. Marine Corps Honors Detail and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville was in charge of arrangements.
