He was born May 2, 1930, in Mason County, the son of Burlie E. and Grace L. Lane Edwards. He married Bernita Hoffmeier on Aug. 31, 1962, at Immanuel Lutheran Church Honey Point. She preceded him in death on Nov. 5, 2014.
He also was preceded in death by one daughter, Dianna Edwards; one son, Steve Edwards; one sister, Linda Page; and one great-grandson, Eric Loughary.
Surviving are four children, Joe (and Vickie) Edwards and Susan Crook, both of Frederick, Terrie (and Mike) Loughary of Arenzville and Martin (and Shari) Edwards of Rushville; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He first worked as a logger with his father and also farmed. He also worked for Casswood Industries. In 1962, he began Edwards Shop in Beardstown until his son Steve took over the business and Bob retired in 1992.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Arenzville, before transferring his membership to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Rushville in 2014.
A visitation celebrating Bob’s life was held Saturday at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville. Private graveside services were held at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery near Meredosia with Pastor Douglas Evenson officiating.
