Ida Ebbert Dies At Age 98

Ida K. Barker Ebbert, 98, of Table Grove, died at 10:30 p.m. Friday, June 29, 1990, at the Elms Nursing Home in Macomb.

Mrs. Ebbert was born Feb. 8, 1892, in Bernadotte, a daughter of Jesse James Strode and Emma Cushman. She married John Wilford Barker in Table Grove Jan. 1, 1914. He died Dec. 16, 1955. She then married George Ebbert in Bushnell in 1970. He died in 1978.

Surviving are one son, Eugene S. Barker of Table Grove; one daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Adelia) Bottenburg of Sun City, Ariz.; a sister, Mrs. Elva Patton of Table Grove; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; six great, great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

She was a member of the Table Grove Community Church, Table Grove Order of the Eastern Star, Table Grove Home Bureau, Table Grove Ladies Legion Auxiliary and was a past 4-H leader.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Macomb with Rev. Tim Gilliland officiating. Arrangements were by Kost Memorial Home in Vermont.

[Laura's note: I think some of the Ebbert dates are wrong here. We have an obituary for George F. Ebbert, which agrees that he married a Mrs. Ida Barker, who survived him, but his obit states that he died in 1968. I suspect, though I am not sure, that they were actually married in 1960, and that he died in 1968, not 1978. George's first wife, Chloe, passed away in 1959 so it is plausible. I have not yet found any records to prove the other dates however, so it is just a theory. There is also a chance that the incorrect dates in this obituary were typos.]
