Emery E. Ebbert, 67, of Westchester, formerly of Ipava, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 1983, at his home.
He was born June 27, 1915, in Ipava, a son of Dwight and Vera Ebbert.
He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1937, and was a high school teacher and athletic coach in Marengo, Elgin, and Cerro Gordo.
From 1957 to 1973, he was athletic director of Proviso East Township High School, Maywood. He was inducted in the Illinois High School Coaches Hall of Fame.
Surviving are his wife, Betty; one son, Lt. Col. Terry J. Ebbert of Newport, R.I.; one daughter, Mrs. Nancy Godke of Cambridge, England; his mother, of Roanoke; one sister, Mrs. Evelyn White of Peoria; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the First Baptist Church, Westchester, of which he was a charter member. Burial was in Pleasant View Cemetery, Assumption.
