Donald Easley Gunshot Victim

Donald Ray Easley, 41, of Bader died at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 22, at his home from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Schuyler County Coroner John Reynolds.

The coroner said Mr. Easley was shot in the upper chest with a deer slug fired from a 12-gauge shotgun.

He reportedly had been under a doctor’s care.

He was born in Springfield on May 17, 1930, a son of Frank and Hettie Walters Easley. He married Margaret Humphrey.

Surviving are his widow; three sons, Gary, Everet and Donald Jr., and two daughters, Debbie and Carol, all at home; his father, of Summum; and three brothers, Richard of Astoria, James of Macomb and Eddie of Summum.

Mr. Easley, a veteran of the Korean conflict, was a member of American Legion Post 25 of Astoria. He was a welder for Key Coal mines, near Rushville.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday afternoon at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. Price Flannery officiating. Burial was in the Summum Cemetery.
