SUSAN (MITCHELL) ENGLE

Death of Susan Engle.

Miss Susan Mitchell was born in Green Castle, Franklin Co., Pa., Dec. 3, 1843. At the age of seven years she moved with her parents to Astoria, Fulton County, Ill. At the age of nineteen she was united in marriage to Andrew J. Engle and to them were born two sons and four daughters.

Those who survive her are: Mrs. J. M. Hurst, of Monmouth, Ill.; Charles E. Engle, of Pea Ridge, Ark.; Mrs. Wm. Farwell and Mrs. J. H. Burgard of Astoria, Ill., and Rev. F. W. Engle, of Fenton, Ill.; also six brothers as follows: C. A. Mitchell, Cherryvale, Kan.; George W. Mitchell, Garnet, Kan.; Samuel Mitchell, Plesentown, Kan.; Fredrick Mitchell, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Oliver Mitchell, Centerville, Kan., and Joseph, of Ft. Worth, Texas. And a host of friends who mourn her loss.

Mrs. Engle has been a member of the United Brethren church, at Astoria for about 22 years. She departed this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. M. Hurst in Monmouth, Ill., April 8, 1911, aged 67 years, 4 months and 5 days.

She was a kind wife and loving mother, a good neighbor and a faithful Christian, and much loved by those who knew her. Her son, Rev. F. W. Engle is a minister of the United Brethren church and doing excellent work as pastor at Fenton, Ill.

She was sick since last September and was cared for by her daughter, Mrs. J. M. Hurst, of Monmouth, Ill. She endured her suffering patiently.

The funeral was held in the United Brethren Church of Astoria, conducted by the pastor. The body was buried in Astoria cemetery.
