She was born Sept. 17, 1918, in Astoria, a daughter of Clayton and Rosa Brillhart Conner. She married Vernon Derry on Jan. 15, 1938, in Keokuk, Iowa. He preceded her in death on April 11, 1971. She later married Orley Shaw on Aug. 25, 1984, in Summum. He preceded her in death on Sept. 9, 2007.
She also was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert, Donnie, Junior and Dick Connor, two sisters, Ruby Vaile and Nelda Webb; and one grandson, Michael Derry.
Surviving are one son, Larry (and Marge) Derry of Astoria; two daughters, Loretta (and Bob) Mummert of Astoria and Linda (and Len) Allen of Rushville; one sister, Grace Bair of Astoria; two stepdaughters, Jean Barron of Rushville and Joyce (and Dale) Ewen of Mahomet; one stepson, Dr. Keith (and Gloria) Shaw of Dubuque, Iowa; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; 11 step great-grandchildren; and nine step great-great-grandchildren.
She was a clerk at Beekman Pharmacy, bookkeeper at Larry Derry’s Shop, secretary for Weight Watchers for 13 years, caretaker for the elderly and cook and night custodian at Astoria Community School District.
She was a member of Summum Christian Church where she was church board secretary and deaconess.
Services were held Monday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Ken Peterson officiating. Burial was in Summum Cemetery.
