Tommy DoddsThomas M. “Tommy” Dodds, 77, of Rushville died at 12:30 p.m. May 20, 2015, at his home.

He was born July 19, 1937, in Bainbridge Township, Schuyler County, Illinois, the son of George and Susan Long Dodds. He married Mary Ellen Campbell on June 30, 1960, in Rushville.

Surviving are two sons, Richard (and Maureen) Dodds and Robert Dodds, both of Mesa, Ariz.; three grandchildren; and companion, Pauline Collins of Rushville.

He was a carpenter, plumber, electrician, home designer and builder, furniture designer and builder, orchardist, artificial insemination technician and hog, beef and dairy farmer.

From 1965-71, he worked at Bohn Aluminum in Beardstown and raised hogs. He managed the family dairy in Tempe and Higley, Ariz., that became the largest Registered Brown Swiss herd in the world, for over 25 years, retiring in 1996.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with Pastor Kenneth Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the Rushville City Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
