Doris DeMott

Doris Alleyne DeMott, 89, of Table Grove died at 11:55 p.m. Dec. 22, 2011, at The Elms Nursing Home in Macomb.

She was born Sept. 4, 1922, in Scotland Township, McDonough County, a daughter of Perry and Nancy Lybarger Hayden. She married Ross E. DeMott on Jan. 3, 1942, in Kahoka, Mo. He died on July 10, 1978.

She also was preceded in death by one sister, Genevieve Lybarger; and one brother, Ivan Hayden.

Surviving are three sons, Roger (and Miriam) DeMott of Webster, N.Y., Gerald DeMott of Colchester and David (and Lauri) DeMott of Ipava; four daughters, Beverly (and Lloyd) Mason of Industry, Lois Richardson of Temecula, Calif., Vonetta (and Evan) Morgan of Ipava and Marjorie (and George) Long of Adair; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She lived most of her life on the Spoon River Bottom north of Table Grove before moving to Table Grove in 1968.

She worked at Pioneer and was a Tupperware representative for 35 years. She also was the site manager of Lunch with Friends in Vermont for 20 years.

In her early working career, she worked at Bushnell and Table Grove slaughter houses.

She was a member of Table Grove American Legion Auxiliary for 20 years and Macomb VFW Auxiliary for 15 years.

Services were held Tuesday at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb with Reverend A. Lee Unger officiating. Burial was in Vermont Cemetery.
