Gladys Adkins Davis, 79, of rural Astoria, died at 4:05 a.m. Sunday, July 28, 1996, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.
She was born Dec. 12, 1916, in Mason County, a daughter of Dolly Holmes. She was adopted by David and Minnie Miller. She married Carroll Adkins on Dec. 12, 1951. She later married Robert Davis in 1956. He died Jan. 20, 1971. One son, Arlie Adkins, one sister, one brother and and one granddaughter also preceded her in death.
Surviving are four sons, Robert Adkins, Jody Adkins, Gary Adkins and Ray Adkins; three daughters, Judy Lynn, Roberta Gobel and Rosemary John; six sisters, Florence Williams, Frances DeFord, Delores Dye, Mazie Nunn, Marlene Searle and Maureen Trice; four brothers, Richard, Bobby, Larry and Jimmy Holmes; 22 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Summum Christian Church in Summum.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 this afternoon at Bath Cemetery in Bath with Kevin Sager officiating. Arrangements are by Hurley Funeral Home in Havana.
