SYLVIA J. (BRUKETTA) DELOST

VeteranSylvia Delost Of Norris Dies

Sylvia J. Delost, 68, of Norris died at 4:40 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, 1990, at Grinnell Hospital in Grinnell, Iowa.

She was born May 13, 1922, in Farmington, a daughter of John and Sylvia Liker Bruketta. She married Joseph O. Delost on March 5, 1946, in Canton. He survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Robert and Randy, both of rural Farmington; two daughters, Kathryn Siebenthal of Peoria and Barbara Brower of Dalton; two brothers, Nick Bruketta of Table Grove and Pete Bruketta of Farmington; two sisters, Rose Marinich of Canton and Katherine Shragel of Galesburg; and eight grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

A 1945 graduate of the St. Francis School of Nursing in Peoria, she worked as a registered nurse at Graham Hospital in Canton for many years before retiring in 1980. She also served as a nursing cadet during World War II.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Canton, and its Altar and Rosary Society. She also was a member of the Catholic Women’s League and the Farmington American Legion Auxiliary.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. this morning at her church, with Rev. Robert Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Canton.
