VeteranNickolas Bruketta

Nickolas Bruketta, 92, of Table Grove died at 10:40 a.m. Dec. 4, 2007, at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy.

He was born Dec. 6, 1914, in Canton, a son of John and Sylvia Liker Bruketta. He married Mary Thomas on Dec. 1, 1945, in Washington, Ill. She died May 29, 1991.

He also was preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters.

Surviving are four sons, Nick (and Mary) Bruketta of Peoria, John (and Mary Jane) Bruketta and Joseph (and Myra) Bruketta, both of Table Grove and William (and Sharon) Bruketta of Gurnee; one sister, Catherine (and Bob) Shragal of Galesburg; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was a World War II Army Veteran, serving from 1941 to 1945.

He was a member of American Legion Post 413, Croation Fraternal Union and St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Bushnell.

He first owned and operated Bruketta Brothers Coal Company in Norris. He moved to Table Grove in 1963 and farmed for the remainder of his life. He assisted in the operation of Bruketta Farm Supply.

Services were held Saturday at Kost Memorial Home in Vermont with Tom Holloway officiating. Burial was in Harris Cemetery in Table Grove, with military rites accorded.
