Jean ClarkPhyllis Imogene “Jean” Clark, 101, of Beardstown died Aug. 28, 2021, at Heritage Health.

She was born Oct. 22, 1919, in Summum, the daughter of Guy and Nancy Samuel Baumgartner. She married Bernard Clark. He preceded her in death in July of 1980.

She also was preceded in death by three sons, Chris and Terry Clark, and Charles Allen Clark in infancy; and one grandson, Hikeem.

Surviving are one daughter, Pam (and Frank) Spurlock of Decatur; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She attended Astoria Schools. She worked at Kroger in Quincy, but when she moved to Beardstown, she began a 50-plus year career with Bi-Rite Grocery Store and retired from Feigl’s Grocery Store.

She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beardstown and WELCA, where she made quilts.

A Celebration of Life was held Saturday at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown with Reverend Fred Fritz officiating. Private family burial will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation.
