Edward “Eddie” Churchill

Eddie ChurchillEdward “Eddie” A. Churchill, 80, of Ipava died at 4:31 p.m. March 6, 2021, in Canton.

He was born Nov. 10, 1940, in Canton, a son of Arthur and Esther McCain Churchill. He married Virginia Mae Barnes on Dec. 21, 1957, in Fiatt. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Vicky (and David) Dikeman of Beardstown and Becky (and Doug) Chenoweth of Lewistown; one son, Darren (and Paula) Churchill of Table Grove; five grandchildren, Amanda (and Matt) Klaska, Allen Dikeman, Kurt (and Kaitlin) Chenoweth, Tiffany Churchill and Taylor Churchill; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Robert Eugene Churchill; two sisters, Eleanor Marshall Mills and Helen Courtney; and two brothers, John and Ralph Churchill.

He was a lifelong farmer and worked at International Harvester in Canton.

He was a member of the Fulton County Farm Bureau. He faithfully attended Vermont Christian Church where he taught Sunday school. He was a Big 10 4-H leader and district manager for Funks G Hybrid Corn.

His roots were well grounded in the farm, raising grain and running a cow/calf operation in which many days he could be found caring for his livestock.

Services were held Tuesday at Vermont Christian Church with Pastor Cody Stinnett officiating. Burial was in Ipava Cemetery. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.
