Glen CrumGlen Lowell Crum, 103, of Rushville died at 5:35 a.m. Oct. 8, 2019, in Culbertson Memorial Hospital.

He was born May 11, 1916, in Ray, a son of Lucius L. and Millie K. Abbott Crum. He married Maxine M. Sills on Oct. 11, 1936, in Coffeen. She preceded him in death on Dec. 3, 2012.

He also was preceded in death by four brothers, Hallam, Eugene, Wendell and Don Crum; and one sister, Louise Edwards.

Surviving are two sons, Gary Crum and Richard (and Kathy) Crum, both of Rushville; one daughter, Maralene (and Ronald) Downs of Rushville; eight grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

At age 7, his family moved to Coffeen. He graduated from Coffeen High School in 1936. He attended R. G. Letourneau Industrial Art School in Peoria. He was a member of Free Methodist Church from 1940 to the time of his death and a lifetime member of the Tri-County Gideons since 1948.

He worked sales at Sears in Peoria and Brown Lynch Scott of Rushville and Canton. During World War II he was employed at R.G. Letourneau in Peoria, working up to the position of foreman. He worked for The Schuyler Telephone Co. for 36 years. He started as a lineman in December, 1945, and retired in May, 1981, as president, at age 65. He served on the Culbertson Memorial Hospital Board of Directors, Rushville Chamber of Commerce, Rushville Rotary Club, was an active member of Light and Life Men’s Fellowship, Free Methodist Church Lay Ministries and various Rushville Civic committees.

Funeral services were held Monday at Rushville HOPE Free Methodist Church with Rev. David Ball officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery. Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville was in charge of arrangements.
