MAXINE M. (SILLS) CRUM

Maxine Crum

Maxine CrumMaxine M. Crum, 94, of Rushville died at 9:10 p.m. Dec. 3, 2012, at Snyder's Vaughn-Haven Nursing Home in Rushville.

She was born Feb. 4, 1918, in Coffeen, a daughter of John and Hazel Haveron Sills. She married Glen Crum in Coffeen on Oct. 11, 1936. He survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Gary (and Judy) Crum and Richard (and Kathy) Crum; one daughter, Maralene (and Richard) Downs; one brother, Jim (and Joanne) Sills of Defiance, Mo.; one sister, Mary Lee Whitten of Hillsboro; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Wilma Fredericks.

At age 10, the family moved to Pana, then to Vandalia. They moved back to Coffeen when Maxine was a senior in high school. She graduated from Coffeen High School in 1936. She worked at the JC Penney Store in Rushville.

She was a member of Free Methodist Church for over 76 years, 74 of those at the church in Rushville. She also was a member of Gideons International Auxiliary for 36 years.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Rushville Free Methodist Church with Reverend Rosalee Ross officiating. Burial will follow in Rushville City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Wood Funeral Home in Rushville.

Memorials may be made to Rushville Free Methodist Church, Gideons International or Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice.
