Linda ChipmanLinda J. Chipman, 57, of rural Lewistown died at 10:48 a.m. April 23, 2016, at her home.

She was born Sept. 23, 1958, in Canton, a daughter of Jerry and Nina Goforth Scalf. She married Eldon Chipman on July 19, 1976, in Lewistown. He survives.

Also surviving are her mother and stepfather, Nina (and Robert) Smith of Lewistown; four daughters, Erin Chipman of Lewistown, Megan (and David) Smith of Norris, Tracy Chipman of Canton and Haley Chipman of Peoria Heights; one sister, Julie (and Jim) Bickle of Reynolds; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father and one sister, Lori Bucher.

She was the manager of Spoon River Towers for 20 years and she also was a piano teacher.

She was a lifelong member of Illinois Street Christian Church in Lewistown where she sang with the choir and was the pianist for years. She had been a member of a string trio where she traveled and played for events. She was a member and president of the Spoon River Professional Women’s Club, and treasurer of the Christian Women’s Fellowship.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown with Reverend Brant Reed officiating. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown.

Memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
