Opal Chambers

Opal Jeannette Chambers, 89, of Macomb, formerly of Good Hope, died at 8:45 a.m. Dec. 5, 2011, at Heartland Healthcare Center in Macomb.

She was born Oct. 31, 1922, in Rushville, a daughter of George and Lula Lear Irwin. She married Marvin Chambers on June 12, 1952, in Kahoka, Mo. He preceded her in death on Dec. 27, 1975.

She also is preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Surviving are one son, Duane (and Bonnie) Chambers of Blandinsville; one daughter, Rosalind Lew of Blandinsville; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She lived in Good Hope from 1962 until moving to Macomb in 1985.

She worked at Scripps-Reno for 30 years and Farm King for seven years.

She was a member of Good Hope United Methodist Church and a former member of Order of Eastern Star.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Ipava Cemetery with Reverend Don Riley officiating. There will be no visitation. Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb is in charge of arrangements.
