George Collins

George W. “Bill” Collins, 58, of Astoria, formerly of Canton and Beardstown, died at 9:34 p.m. April 20, 2010, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital Emergency Room in Rushville.

He was born Nov. 2, 1951, in Canton, a son of Gail Andrew and Ruby Evelyn Hamm Collins. He married Sharon Moore. He later married Penny Hull on Dec. 11, 1993, in Astoria. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, William “Willie” (and Christine) Collins of Farmington and Brandon Brown at home; two daughters, Charlene “Charley” (and Jeff Jockisch) Collins of Lewistown and Mary “Smurphy” Collins of Beardstown; three sisters, Linda Kling of Farmington, Fran Dornberger of Lewistown and Kathy (and Stewart) Beistline of Gentry, Ark.; one brother, David (and Dixie) Collins of Bryant; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one stepdaughter.

He was a laborer at Oscar Mayer and Excel Corporation in Beardstown for 40 years.

Services were held Saturday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Gary Sheets and Terry Lucas officiating. Burial was in Arenzville North Cemetery.
