Gail A. Collins, 76, of Astoria, formerly of Canton, died at 10:03 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, 1996, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

He was born Feb. 9, 1920, in Moultrie County, a son of Noah Noble and Delphia Robinson Collins. He married Ruby Hamm on March 9, 1940, in Bement. She survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Linda Kling of Farmington, Mary “Cathy” Mahoney of Gentry, Ark., and Frances Dornberger; two sons, David Collins of Cuba and George Collins of Astoria; 16 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one grandchild, one brother and five sisters.

He worked at Miller Autobody in Canton for 22 years. He then worked at Key Repair Shop in Rushville for 17 years. He was a World War II Army veteran.

Funeral services were held Saturday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Collis Trone officiating. Burial was in White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton.
