Dorothy Colston

Dorothy M. Colston, 79, of Ipava died at 3 a.m. July 2, 2008, at Astoria Gardens & Rehab Center.

She was born Feb. 23, 1929, in West Ridge, Ark., a daughter of William and Lillie Pate Crisel. She married Buford D. Colston on March 2, 1946, in Augusta, Ark. He died March 3, 1985.

She also was preceded in death by two great-grandchildren; four brothers; and one sister.

Surviving are four daughters, Wanda (and the late George) Hall, Donna (and Larry) Bent, Shirley (and Larry) Hopping and Bea (and Rick) Hopping, all of Ipava; two sons, Buford (and Janet) Colston and Elton (and Alice) Colston, both of Ipava; one brother, Herbert Dunn of Waterloo, Iowa; two sisters, Sherry (and John) Reed of Kensitt, Ark., and Pauline Barnes of Flint, Mich.; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

She worked at Blue Bell sewing factory in Bushnell; Atwood Manufacturing in Havana; and Canton Manufacturing in Canton; retiring in 1991.

She was a member of Amalgamated Textile Worker’s Union.

Services were held Saturday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Ipava with John Ruppel officiating. Burial was in Ipava Cemetery.
