Darrell Cluney

Darrell "Bud" CluneyDarrell K. "Bud" Cluney, 90, of Astoria died at midnight, Sunday Sept. 29, 2002, at Renaissance Care Center in Canton.

He was born Dec. 18, 1911, in Marbletown, a son of Stella Cluney. He married Ida Ferne Smith on Dec. 20, 1936, in Astoria. She died Jan. 27, 2001.

He also was preceded in death by one grandson, two sisters and four half brothers.

Surviving are three daughters, Melba (and Donald) Lindsey of Astoria, Judith (and Willis) Mason of Springfield, Ohio, and Mary (and Ronald) Herrera of Auburn, Calif.; two sons, Kenneth (and Judy) of Chillicothe and Terry (and Carol) of Peoria; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Wanda (and Andy) Anderson of Peoria and Gertrud Lancaster of Wyoming; and one half brother, Ernest (and Roberta) Darling of Arkansas.

An employee of Caterpillar Inc. in Peoria for 32 1/2 years, he retired as a machine operator in 1972.

He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 974.

He was a member of Astoria Christian Church, where services will be at 11 a.m. today with Gary Sheets officiating. Burial will be in Summum Cemetery.
