Willard Cornn

Willard Lawrence Cornn, 82, of Astoria died at 8 p.m Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000, at his residence in Moweaqua.

He was born Jan. 3, 1918, in Lily, Ky., the son of Andy and Rose Moore Smith, he was adopted by Matthew and Molly Cornn.

He married Frances E. Mooney in 1935. She died in 1948. He later married Geraldine Oswalt on Aug. 20, 1949. She died Jan. 16, 2000.

One son, William, also preceded him in death.

Surviving are three daughters, Alyce (and Bob) Creech of Vermont, Betty (and Ken) Lewis of Baxter, Ky., and Patricia Smith-Hunter (and Ed Hunter) of Moweaqua; two sons, Carl of Rockford and James (and Jeanne) of Loves Park; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was a member of Astoria Church of Christ.

He also was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge in Havana, where he was grand master, past grand master and treasurer.

He was formerly a master mechanic and supervisor for Amax Coal Company in Vermont.

A memorial service was held today at 11 a.m. at his church. Cremation will be accorded. Dawson and Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home in Decatur was in charge of arrangements.
