Robert CreechRobert H. Creech, 73, of Vermont died at 8:45 p.m. July 12, 2007, at Sunset Manor in Canton.

He was born Aug. 24, 1933, in Loyall, Ky., a son of Roy and Margaret Turner Creech. He married Alyce Cornn on Aug. 3, 1957, in Jonesville, Va. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Sandy (and Dick) Bent of Browning; one son, Mike of Vermont; one sister, June Kirby of Loyall; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Lloyd; and two sisters, Mae and Josie Slage.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1953.

He was a coal mine worker at Sunspot Mine in Vermont for over 30 years and at Wabash Mine for eight years, retiring in 1994.

He was a member of Vermont American Legion Carroll Rankin Post 26, where he served as past commander; 40 et 8 of Canton; International Order of Odd Fellows of Vermont; and Vermont Volunteer Fire Department.

Services were held Monday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Cliff Parry officiating. Burial was in Vermont Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Harbor Light Hospice of Canton, Alzheimer’s Association or Sunset Manor’s Alzheimer’s unit.
