Minnie Conlin

Minnie W. Conlin, 94, of Astoria, formerly of Watseka, died at 7:51 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15, 1996, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

She was born April 9, 1901, in Crescent City, a daughter of William and Minna Lehman Witte. She married Harley L. Conlin on Dec. 23, 1922, in Bloomington. He died on June 19, 1959. Also preceding her in death was one brother and five sisters.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Allan and Sara Conlin of Astoria; four grandchildren, Mark and Craig Conlin, both of Orland Park, Jay Conlin of Omaha, Neb., and Scott Conin of Macomb; two step-grandchildren, Mrs. Kent (Lori) Walters of Bloomington and John Baker of Astoria; four great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

She was born on a farm outside of Crescent City and moved to Bloomington at an early age. She moved to Chicago after her marriage in 1922 and then to Lombard in 1923. In 1950 she moved to Watseka where she owned and operated the Conlin Dress Shop for 20 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Watseka, Royal Chapter of Eastern Star since 1927, and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Park Hill Cemetery in Bloomington with Rev. Herbert Lytle officiating. Visitation will be held one half hour before service at the cemetery.

Memorials may be made to either the Watseka United Methodist Church or the Iroquois County Museum.
