Charles H. Clanin, 70, of Pekin died at 2:37 a.m. Tuesday, April 11, 1995, at Pekin Hospital.

He was born March 9, 1925, in Ipava, a son of Edward and Edna Deloris David Clanin. He married Norma Jean Beaird on June 24, 1947, in Lewistown. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Randy of Pekin; two daughters, Gloria Horner of Astoria and Betty Deakin of Atkinson; two brothers, Royce Clanin of Dayton, Ohio, and Edwin Keith Clanin of Peoria; one sister, Olive Shalla of Washington, Iowa; two granddaughters, Tammy Bollinger of Astoria and Debbie; and two great-grandchildren, Klynton and Destiny.

Three brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

He was a World War II Navy veteran.

He was a driver in the innerplant transportation department at Caterpillar Inc. in East Peoria for 31 years until retiring. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Local 974.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria, with Rev. steve Castaneda officiating. Burial was in Howard Cemetery in Smithfield.

Memorials may be made to Summum Christian Church.
