Leta J. Cassel, 95, of Astoria died at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, March 1, 1995, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
She was born Jan. 18, 1900, in Astoria, the daughter of Mary Mayme Anderson. She married Ray H. Cassel on Jan. 31, 1921, in Astoria. He died Jan. 1, 1942. Two sons, Robert and James, and two brothers also preceded her in death.
Surviving are two sons, William of Astoria and Charles of Lady Lake, Fla.; two daughters, Mary Sue Cassel of Lincoln and Lois Ann Moffitt of Plainfield; 11 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was a Gold Star mother. She was a member of Astoria American Legion Auxiliary Post 25 and Astoria United Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held Saturday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. Collis Trone officiating. Burial was in Astoria Cemetery.
