Oscar N. Cable Dies At Age 88

Oscar N. Cable, 88, of Monticello, died at 12:06 a.m. Sunday, April 15, 1990, in Covenant Medical Center in Urbana.

He was born in Eldorado, Kans., a son of Isaac and Mary Metzger Cable. He married Myra K. Blickenstaff on July 18, 1930, at Cerro Gordo. She preceded him in death on June 8, 1983.

One son, one daughter, one sister and one half-brother also preceded him in death.

Surviving are two sons, Wayne Cable and Ivan Cable, both of Monticello; one daughter, Carol Cable of Monticello; four brothers, Cecil Cable of Browning, Lester Cable of Clio, Mich., Ralph Cable of Delphi, Ind., and Paul Cable of Camden, Ind.; two sisters, Emma Allen of Grand Blanc, Mich. and Martha Walters of Astoria; one half-sister, Anna Belle Cable of Astoria; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mr. Cable was a retired accountant for Sterling Drugs and Armsworth Appliance, both of Monticello, a member of the Cerro Gordo Church of the Brethren, and Monticello Senior Citizens.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, in the Cerro Gordo Church of the Brethren. Burial was in the Cerro Gordo Cemetery. Mackey-Wright Funeral Home of Monticello was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Monticello Senior Citizens Center.
