Bluff City Woman Dies

Mrs. Elmer Curless Life Long Resident; Funeral Thursday Afternoon

Mrs. Elmer Curless passed away Tuesday morning at 1:30 o’clock at her home near Bluff City, following an illness of several months duration. She was aged 74 years, 6 months and 26 days.

Kate Shaw was born near Bluff City, August 10, 1868, the daughter of Noah and Phebe Horton Shaw. She was united in marriage to Elmer Curless, on February 16, 1890 and to this union five children were born, namely: Mrs. Charles Burdick of Assumption, Ill.; Mrs. Della Litchfield and Mrs. John Slaight, Astoria; Banus Curless, Harrisburg, Pa., and Verne Curless of Summum, who with the aged father, together with one sister, Mrs. Exie Curless of Sciota, Ill., survive to mourn her death.

Mrs. Curless’ life was devoted to her home and family. As a loving mother, a faithful wife and a kind neighbor, she won the love and respect of all who came within the circle of her acquaintance.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the Bluff City church, conducted by Rev. Fred Thompson of Astoria. Interment in the Bluff City cemetery.
