She was born March 5, 1930, in Havana, a daughter of Boyd and Minnie (Knuppel) Bucy. She married Eldon Bucy on Nov. 18, 1950, at Camp Stewart, Ga. He survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Jim (Judy) Bucy of Springfield and Mike (Barbara) Bucy of South Jacksonville; one daughter, Diana (Jim) Martin of Matthews, N.C.; one daughter-in-law, Kate Martin; one sister, Carol Pace of Vermont; six grandchildren, Katie (Jeff) Stewart, Allie (Drew) Vining, Mary (Dan) Clarin, Matt (Nicole) Martin, Heather (Conor) Griffin and Craig (Kary) Bucy; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one grandson, Ben (and surviving wife Kate) Martin; and one brother, Ernest Bucy.
She first worked at the Fibra-Steel plant in Astoria. At age 55, she received her LPN license and worked at Wesley Village in Macomb. She later received the Illinois Senior Outstanding Nurse Award. She also was a Pampered Chef saleswoman.
She was a long time member of Vermont United Methodist Church and the Vermont American Legion Post Auxiliary.
Services will be held at noon Thursday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Vermont Cemetery.
