He was born July 8, 1941, in Havana, the son of Boyd Joshua and Minnie Sophia Knuppel Bucy.
Surviving are two sisters, Carol Pace and Bertha (and Eldon) Bucy, both of Vermont; seven nieces and nephews; and seven great-nieces and nephews.
He was a general contractor and carpenter for 40 years. He also was owner/operator of C and E Grocery in Vermont with his sister Carol for 10 years.
He was a member of Vermont United Methodist Church and a former Vermont Village Board member.
Graveside services were held Tuesday at the Vermont Cemetery with Reverend Robert Greene officiating. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to plant memorial trees in Ernest’s name.
