He was born Sept. 6, 1928, in Sherman Township, Mason County, the son of Robert and Laura Landwer Burget. He married Melba Jean Ogden on Aug. 20, 1949, in Wickliffe, Ky. She preceded him in death on Jan. 27, 2017.
He also was preceded in death by one infant sister; one son, Stewart Burget; one daughter, Sherry Wells; one grandchild, James Cannon; and two great-grandchildren, Samantha and Reese Carithers.
Surviving are five sons, Steven (and Pam) Burget and Shelby Burget, both of Astoria, Stanley (and Sandy) Burget and Sheldon (and Brenda) Burget, both of Lewistown, and Scott (and Teresa) Burget of Rushville; one daughter, Sharon (and Steve) Musson of Astoria; one sister, Beulah Williams of Easton; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Services will be held at a later date. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria is in charge of arrangements.
