William BartlowWilliam Pard Bartlow, 96, of Rushville died at 5:52 a.m. March 3, 2017, at the Sarah D. Culbertson Memorial Hospital.

He was born July 9, 1920, in Rushville, a son of Howard Pard and Elizabeth C. Eifert Bartlow. He married Margie Ellen Dean on June 30, 1946, in Rushville. She preceded him in death on Dec. 25, 2010.

He also was preceded in death by one grandson, Jacob Lawler Bartlow; and one brother, Robert E. “Ted” Bartlow.

Surviving are two sons, Jeffrey Pard (and Jeanne) Bartlow of New Port Richey, Fla., and Joseph Alan Bartlow of Rushville; one sister, Nancy Jorgesen of Rushville; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. A 1938 graduate of Rushville High School, he also graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University in Normal in 1942. After his discharge from the Army, he attended Western Illinois State Teachers College in Macomb on the G.I. Bill. In 1948, Bill, his father Howard and brother Ted began construction on the facility, south of Rushville, known as Bartlow Brothers Inc., maker of Korn Top Meats. The plant officially opened in 1950. He worked there his entire career until retiring as president and CEO.

He was a member of Rushville First United Methodist Church, Schuyler American Legion Post #4, and was past president and 50-year member of the Rushville Rotary Club.

Funeral services were held Monday at his church with Rev. Grant Armstrong officiating. Burial followed in Rushville City Cemetery with Military Honors by Schuyler American Legion Post #4 and a U.S. Army Honors Detail. Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville was in charge of arrangements.
