Charles Bricker

Charles BrickerCharles Bricker, 90, of Rushville, died at 5:50 p.m. Aug. 4, 2012, at Snyder's Vaughn-Haven Nursing Home in Rushville.

He was born June 25, 1922, in Ray, a son of Charley Scott and Lula Aten Bricker. He first married Mildred Friend on Aug. 1, 1942, in Omaha, Neb. He later married Florence Wisecup Bricker on April 24, 1964, in Rushville. She preceded him in death on Aug. 4, 1995.

He also was preceded in death by one son, Charles W. "Buck" Bricker; two daughters, Marilyn Bricker and Bette Bricker; one brother, William Aten Bricker; and one infant sister.

Surviving are one daughter, Linda (and Larry) Sample of Lebanon, Ore.; one stepdaughter, Martha Rockwell of Rushville; one stepson, Larry (and Nancy) Wisecup of Rushville; two grandchildren; five step grandchildren; and seven step great-grandchildren.

He first worked with the Glen Martin in Omaha, Neb., before returning to the family farm in Ray, where he continued to farm. He also worked as a mechanic at Rohn Implement in Beardstown, Wrestler's in Enion, Max Sayers International and Macomb International, both of Macomb. He was later a self-employed farm implement mechanic.

Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with Pastor Larry DeSha officiating. Burial will follow in Rushville City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Free Methodist Camp Ground, Schuyler County Humane Society, both in Rushville or Disabled American Veterans.
